Super Eagles strikers Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis will not be having a brand new head coach in the foreseeable future as Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has been handed a new contract by the club's management.
The announcement that Cooper has ended speculation over his future by signing a new deal was made Friday morning despite the poor form of the former European champions who made an astonishing 22-player signings this summer after their promotion from the Championship.
According to the official website of Nottingham Forest, Cooper's new deal will keep him at the City Ground until 2025 if both parties honour the agreement.
Nottingham Forest are currently bottom of the table after suffering a 4-0 defeat against Leicester City on Monday, a game that Awoniyi was substituted for Dennis in the 62nd minute.
On the opposing side was Wilfred Ndidi who had a great first half performance albeit Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute.
Cooper was appointed Nottingham Forest coach last September and the Reds have won 29 out of his 54 matches in charge.
With the 42-year-old in the dugout, Awoniyi has appeared in nine matches and Dennis, a summer signing from Watford, has played six games.
