Rotherham United striker Peter Odemwingie was sent off in his team&rsquo;s 2-1 defeat suffered at the hands of Leeds United in the Championship on Saturday.<br /><br />Just before the half-hour mark, the 2014 World Cup star took the walk of shame for a nasty elbow on Liam Cooper.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the former West Brom and Stoke City star has maintained his innocence, arguing that footballers usually jump with their hands to protect themselves. <br /><br />&ldquo;I was unlucky with the red card. We all normally jump with our hands up to protect each other and expected his to be up as well, &rdquo; Odemwingie explained on Twitter while the game was going on. <br /><br />He later added : &ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t mean to but caught the player and accept the referee had no choice. Hope the boys get something out of the game.
