Efe Ambrose Named In Celtic Squad For Trip To Belfast
Published: July 16, 2013After training with Scottish champions Glasgow Celtic for a day, Nigeria stopper Efe Ambrose is in contention to be named in the starting eleven for Wednesday's Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville.
Ambrose, 24, was part of the contingent that arrived Northern Ireland on Tuesday.
The versatile defender played for the Nigeria selection at the Fifa Confederations Cup and is in good physical condition.
On top of that, while holidaying in Kaduna, northwest Nigeria, the ex Kaduna United man had practiced on his own and was involved in exhibition matches.
''He looks great, he looks in good condition. These guys play almost 12 months a year. He has had a couple of weeks off.
''He had a heavy schedule with the Confederations Cup, had a holiday, did a little bit of training in Nigeria and then joined us yesterday and he looks fine , '' Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon was quoted as saying by the online edition of The Scottish Sun.
Neil Lennon was forced to include Efe Ambrose in the squad after three defenders and a midfielder failed to travel as a result of injuries.
