Former Flying Eagles Skipper Nduka Ozokwo Tips Golden Eaglets To Win World Cup
Published: October 17, 2013
Mersin İdmanyurdu attacker Nduka Ozokwo has targeted an immediate return to the Turkish Super Lig at the end of this season.
At the end of the 2012 - 2013 campaign, Mersin, who also pay the wages of Nigeria international Raheem Lawal, were relegated after finishing bottom of the Premier League.
With Mersin İdmanyurdu currently occupying the third position in the standings, Ozokwo believes promotion is a target that can be achieved.
The former Enugu Rangers ace told allnigeriasoccer.com in a telephone conversation :“Our most important goal is to be directly promoted by finishing first or second in the league.
“As for me, I am not chasing personal glory apart from helping the team win the league.”
The Under 17 World Cup kicked off in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, with one of the pre -tournament favorites Brazil defeating Slovakia 6 - 1.
Nduka Ozokwo, former Flying Eagles skipper, has tipped the Manu Garba led side to do well at the tourney and perhaps win their fourth silverware.
“I haven’t really been following their progress since we were unable to watch the African championship from here (in Turkey).
“But everyone know what Nigeria is capable of especially at youth level. I believe like every other Nigerian that they are potential champions,” said Ozokwo.
Nduka Ozokwo will make his eighth consecutive start of the season if he makes the starting lineup for next Monday’s showdown against Denizlispor.
