Jonathan Akpoborie Predicts Turnaround In Eagles Fortunes
Published: January 20, 2014Former Wolfsburg striker and retired Nigeria international Jonathan Akpoborie has shared his thoughts and impressions on the Super Eagles performance at the third edition of the African Nations Championship currently taking place in South Africa.
After an unconvincing display against Mali in their first group A match, Stephen Keshi’s charges have bounced back into reckoning with two consecutive victories against Mozambique and South Africa.
“Just like the African Nations Cup, that game against South Africa might be a turnaround for the team.
“After yesterday’s game, there is a possibility that they can bring home the Cup.
“To be honest, I have missed some of the games they have played in the tournament but the few minutes I saw, Gbolahan Salami impressed me,” Jonathan Akpoborie told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The Super Eagles have progressed to the quarter finals and will now trade tackles with the top team in Group B on January 25 at the Cape Town Stadium.
