CHAN 2014: Lady Luck Deserts Super Eagles, Lose To Ghana On Penalties
Published: January 30, 2014
10-man Ghana stretched Super Eagles to win 4-1 via penalties on Wednesday night in the second semi finals of the on-going African Nations Championship.
Earlier in the day, Libya needed the demon known as penalty to dispatch Warriors of Zimbabwe to progress to the final of the competition.
Aliyu Ibrahim hit the post for the Super Eagles in the first half after a clever corner routine.
Ghana midfielder Bansey chested down the ball just outside the ball before firing a volley just wide of Chigozie Agbim's left post.
It was a scary time for Super Eagles fans as it was the first chance of the match.
Eagles had the chance to win the game when Kwabina Adusei was sent off after he received a second yellow card for a foul on Ibrahim, but the Stephen Keshi led boys failed to capitalise.
Barnabas Immenger was wasteful in front of goal as he missed a through ball from Ejike Uzoenyi and Shehu Abdullahi toe-poked a Solomon Kwambe cross over from close range.
The impressive Adam saved an Immenger goal bound effort. He was the hero in the shootouts.
Nigeria almost won it when Adam denied the Super Eagles with a world class save in the 120th minute of action.
