Exclusive : German Coach To Rival Glenn Hoddle For Swansea City Job
Published: February 06, 2014
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that a high profile German manager has been proposed to the leadership of Swansea City as replacement for Michael Laudrup, who was fired on Tuesday after a dismal run of results.
The preferred choice to take over the reins at the Welsh outfit is Everton assistant manager Graeme Jones but the Toffees do not intend to part with the 43 - year - old for now.
Also, with the quality of players at Swansea, the management wants someone who can command respect from their star players like Michu, Wilfried Bony and Jonjo Shelvey.
What the Swansea brass is looking for is a coach that understands the philosophy of Swansea which is about having a passing game with control and the candidate should be in the same level as previous managers - Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup.
Other candidates being proposed include Glenn Hoddle, who applied for the Nigeria job four years ago, Dennis Bergkamp and Marcelo Bielsa.
Excluding performance related incentives, the new manager will pocket one million pounds as annual wage. Last year, Laudrup earned close to four million pounds.
If things go according to plan, Swansea will announce their new manager on or before the next 72 hours.
