Agent Opens Can Of Worms On Imoh Ezekiel Transfer To Standard Liege, 36 Lion To Pocket 1.2 Million Euros Following Al Arabi Move
Published: August 04, 2014
Football scout Michael Nicholas has opened a can of worms on the transfer of one - cap Nigeria international Imoh Ezekiel to Al - Arabi, Qatar on a four - year contract for a fee of eight million Euros, and this figure has now been confirmed.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Liameed Olawale Gafar, CEO of grassroots team 36 Lion, had inserted a 15 percent sell on clause in the agreement he reached with Standard Liege in 2012.
And that means 36 Lion’s domiciliary account is expected to be credited with the sum of 1.2 million Euros (equivalent of 240 million Naira in Nigerian currency) by Standard Liege being the club’s share of transfer income.
Michael Nicholas says he is entitled to at least 300,000 Euros of that amount expected to be paid by the Qatari side, having brokered the deal alongside his partner in Belgium,Luan Ahmetaj, that took the then unknown Imoh Ezekiel to Standard Liege.
But Gafar, according to Michael Nicholas, plans to renege on the gentleman’s agreement the three parties had struck before Imoh Ezekiel traveled for tests with Club Brugge.
“Imoh Ezekiel flew to Brussels-Belgium from Cotonou,Benin Republic via Royal Air Maroc due to the announcement of fuel subsidy on the 1st of January 2012 and Lagos International Airport Murtala Muhammed was shut down .
“Upon the arrival of Imoh Ezekiel in Club Brugge, the player failed trials. Luan Ahmetaj my partner in Belgium was so upset and called me immediately to inform me that he will reschedule the flight ticket of the player that night, that Imoh Ezekiel will return back to Nigeria the next day,” Michael Nicholas told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“But I had to calm Luan Ahmetaj down and asked him to give Imoh Ezekiel another chance as the player arrived Europe for the first time and it was winter time that the weather affected him badly. Luan Ahmetaj agreed with me and promised to take Imoh Ezekiel to another Belgium club for trials.”
“In this regard my partner Luan Ahmetaj made contact with his friend Willy Holvoet to arrange trials for Imoh Ezekiel in Standard Liege Football Club which Willy Holvoet did, and Imoh Ezekiel signed 6 months free loan deal with Standard Liege on the 31st of January 2012. ”
After Imoh Ezekiel was acquired on a permanent basis by Standard Liege in the summer of 2012, 36 Lion received the sum of $100,000 as his transfer fee, and Gafar paid Nicholas $10,000 in two equal installments.
This website understands that the 36 Lion supremo will pocket 1.8 million Euros (=N= 360 million) being 10 percent commission of the total sum of Imoh Ezekiel’s transfer to Al - Arabi (includes player’s four - year wages and his transfer fee).
