Nigeria Coaches Mourn Musa Abdullahi
The Nigeria Football Coaches Association has expressed deep sorrow at news of the death of Coach Musa Abdullahi, a former head coach of National U-17. <br /> <br />In a release in Abuja, the President of the Association Coach Bitrus Bewarang described the demise of Coach Abdullahi, as a very unfortunate one, not only to the Association, but to the entire football fraternity all over the world.<br /><br /> He said the late Coach who died at the age 61, contributed positive to the development of the game in the country. <br /><br />He prayed that God in his infinite mercies should grant the family the fortitude to bear the lost.<br /><br />The late Coach Musa Abdullahi who was also a former Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles died on Sunday afternoon in Lokoja having suffered from stroke for several years.<br /> <br />He has since been buried according to Islamic rites in his home, Koton-Karfe, Kogi Local Government of Kogi state.<br /><br />Coach Musa Abdullahi was the assistant Coach to the National U.17 Team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup title in Japan in 1993.<br /> <br />He also lead the team to win the African U.17 Championship in Seychelles in 2001 and won the silver medal at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago the same year. <br /><br />He served severally as the Assistant Coach of the Senior National Team, Super Eagles , Head Coach of the National U.20 team Flying Eagles, and coach U-23 Dream Team IV. <br /><br />He handled Dolphins of Port Harcourt as their head coach from 2002 to 2005, before he moved over to South Africa.<br /><br />Late Abdullahi, was a deputy Director in the Kogi State Sport Council. He is survived by his wife Hajiya Bilikisu Musa and four children.
