Viborg Give Nigeria Federation The Green Light To Feature Alhaji Gero Versus Gabon
Published: February 12, 2015
Danish First Division side Viborg have released ex Nigeria Under 20 international Alhaji Gero for the crucial All African Games qualifying fixture against Gabon.
On Friday, the former Enugu Rangers star will fly to Nigeria to join the Olympic National Team, who are presently fine-tuning strategies under the guidance of coach Samson Siasia.
Although it is not a Fifa sanctioned date for international matches, Viborg will not play spoilsport and have let Gero go.
“Gero obviously has some ambitions to make it to the Olympics with Nigeria in 2016 , and therefore , he is also allowed to travel .
“We made an agreement that he leaves when we have played against FC Midtjylland on Friday.
“He looked away for a week and joins our training camp then,” Viborg sporting director Ole Nielsen told bold.dk.
Alhaji Gero played three matches for the Flying Eagles at the 2013 Fifa Under 20 World Cup staged in Turkey.
