Taiwo Awoniyi Bags Brace As Flying Eagles Defeat Senegal

The Flying Eagles started their African Youth Championship campaign with a 3 - 1 win over Senegal on Sunday evening.
Kalmar youth - teamer Taiwo Awoniyi capitalized on a defensive blunder to give Nigeria the lead in the 10th minute.
And in similar circumstances, the 17 - year - old found the back of the net 2 minutes later, before Sidy Sarr pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 27th minute.
On 44 minutes, Ifeanyi Mathew provided the game’s standout moment, when he slammed a low shot from 20 yards beyond goalkeeper Seydou Sy.
There were no further goals in the second half despite the introduction of the lanky forward Alhassan Ibrahim, who was later substituted ten minutes from time by Obinna Nwobodo.
Nigeria will face Congo in their second Group A fixture on Wednesday, starting from 1630hours local time.
