Portsmouth Striker Iniabasi Umotong Happy To Score On Unofficial Debut
Portsmouth striker Iniabasi Umotong was full of joy after scoring in her unofficial debut for Nigeria’s Women’s National Team.

The Anglo - Nigerian has pledged her international future to the Super Falcons, with coach Edwin Okon set to run the rule over her in a training camp before deciding whether or not she’ll make the trip to Canada for the World Cup.

Umotong’s performance against Confluence Queens ticked the right boxes, having scored the first goal in the 3 - 0 win over the Kogi State team.

“It is amazing to score on my first game. I cannot explain my joy at donning Nigeria’s jersey and score.

“I thank my team mates and my coaches for believing in me and giving me the confidence to play and score. I am encouraged to do more for my country.

“I have been able to adapt to the attacking style of the team because it is similar to the way we play in my club but I still have a lot to learn here,” said Umotong to thenff.com.

The 20 - year - old previously starred for the England Under 15s, according to the media officer of the Super Falcons, Gracious Akujobi.
