Joseph Mbong Set To Make Senior Malta Debut
17 - year - old Hibernians starlet Joseph Essien Mbong is primed to make his debut for the senior national team of Malta .

Coach Pietro Ghedin has named the youngster in his provisional squad list for games against Georgia and Azerbaijan on March 25 and 28 respectively.

The striker has caps for the youth teams of Malta, including the Under 17 squad, whom he represented in 2014 during the European Under 17 Championship.

After that tournament, Mbong, whose father represented Julius Berger before he passed away, was promoted to the Malta Under 19s.

Joseph Mbong etched his name into Maltese folklore by being the first player to score for the Island Nation in a UEFA sanctioned tournament.

He was on target in the 5 - 2 loss to Holland at the Gozo Stadium.
