Published: March 24, 2015
Sporting director of Kalmar, Thomas Andersson Borstam , has told the Swedish press that Flying Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi will return to the club for about two weeks in April.
The Nigeria youth international has signed a preliminary contract with The Red Brothers which will become activated in August when he clocks 18.
“They usually have a wide collection before they’ll play the World Cup and I have full respect for.
“But I hope he will be able to show up here in April in a week or two, ” Borstam, who was in Senegal for the African Youth Championship, told 24Kalmar.se.
Contrary to the pronouncement of Thomas Andersson Borstam, allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Awoniyi will NOT be returning to Kalmar unless the Nigeria Football Federation resolves the ownership dispute between Imperial Academy Odogbolu and United Academy.
Former Nigeria international Seyi Olonfinjana claims he discovered Taiwo Awoniyi in 2010, but his registration rights was never transferred to Imperial Academy before the youngster was forced to sign an illegal contract with Kalmar.
