Back - Ache Rules Vincent Enyeama Out Of South Africa Clash, Daniel Akpeyi Called Up As Replacement
Published: March 26, 2015
Vincent Enyeama has been ruled out of the international friendly against Bafana Bafana on March 29 after picking up a minor injury against the Cranes of Uganda on Wednesday night, the NFF has claimed.
The Nigeria Football Federation and the national team handlers have moved quickly to replace the Super Eagles skipper with Warri Wolves goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi.
Aged 28, Akpeyi was included in Stephen Keshi’s 30 - man provisional World Cup roster but did not make the final squad.
As at last year, he was widely regarded as the country’s fourth choice goalkeeper, behind Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide and Chigozie Agbim in the pecking order.
Daniel Akpeyi’s best moment in a Nigerian jersey was winning silver with the Dream Team at the Olympic Games back in 2008.
