Chelsea Striker Ike Ugbo Eyes Place In England Euro Under 17 Squad
Published: March 28, 2015
Anglo - Nigerian striker Ike Ugbo reckons that his brace against Romania in a European Championship qualification fixture will convince manager John Peacock to include him on his roster for the tournament in Bulgaria.
Two days ago, the Chelsea youth - teamer netted the match - winner in the 53rd minute after Adrian Petre had equalized for the Romanian Under 17s.
“After the first game I felt I had to prove myself to John and show why I should be in the team,” Ugbo said to TheFA.com.
“I wanted to get two so that I’d have two in two games, and thankfully I did – that’s three in five games I’ve got this season.
“For my first one I pressed the defender hard, and he panicked allowing me to take the ball, then I just had to slot it in.
“Marcus Edwards did well for my second, going down the left before pulling it back for me to put it in with just one touch.”
