Kayode Adeniyi Returned As FCT SWAN Chairman
Published: April 18, 2015Kayode Adeniyi of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA has been re-elected chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, FCT chapter.
The election which took place at the media center of the Abuja National Stadium on Friday, saw Kayode re-elected for another three-year-term unopposed.
Though the Oyo state born veteran needed to win just a two-third of the total votes cast,he pulled a massive 74 votes out of the total 83 votes cast to retain hisposition.
Also,Chidoka Ndubueze of Radio Nigeria Abuja, was returned unopposed as the association’s vice chairman as he pulled a landslide 81 votes out of 83 votes cast.
The position of the general secretary was keenly contested between Martins Odiete of Newswatch,Romanus Ugu of the Sun Newspapers and Raphael Ekpang of Union Newspaper.
Martins Odiete was however returned as the secretary of the association with 45votes, Romanus came close with 38 votes while Raphael had no vote.
Bunmi Haruna of Independent Television ITV, Abuja, was re-electected assistant secretary unopposed, while Ikenna Okonkwo (60 votes) of Pilot Newspaper overcame the challenge from Hyacinth Umeh(22 votes) of Africa IndependentTelevision, AIT, to become the new Financial Secretary.
Salifu Usman(44 votes)of Leadership Newspaper was elected Treasurer beating off stiff opposition from Remi Sulola(39)of the Nations Newspapers.
In his acceptance speech after the new exco was sworn in, Kayode Adeniyi , pledged to take SWAN FCT chapter to a greater height.
“We want to thank our members for the confidence they have in us by voting us to pilot the affairs of this noble association for the next three years and wepromise we will not disappoint them.” Kayode promised.
