Eddy Onazi Throws Weight Behind Flying Eagles
Published: May 16, 2015 Eddy Omazi narrowly missed the squad list that represented the country at the 2011 Fifa Under 20 World Cup, two years after starring for the Golden Eaglets at the Fifa Under 17s in Nigeria.
He has let bygones be bygones and has thrown his weight behind the Manu Garba led Flying Eagles, who are hoping to win the Fifa Under 20 World Cup for the first time in the country’s history.
Shortly after the Nigerian FA made public the list of players nominated to play in the tourney in New Zealand, Eddy Onazi replied :
“God grace will follow them and bring the cup back to our lovely country amen. @thenffofficial”.
The Lazio midfielder has represented Nigeria seven times in the final of Fifa tournaments, with three of those matches coming in the Fifa Under 17s.
Onazi was involved in games against Germany, Korea Republic and Spain, playing against the likes of Mario Götze (Bayern Munich) and Koke (Atlético Madrid).
