Gateway United Coach, Awakan: Victory Is Non Negotiable
Published: May 30, 2015
Gateway United coach Olabode Awakan says his team plans to end their winless run on Saturday, insisting that victory against Akwa Starlets is non-negotiable.
The darling team of Ogun State have not won in two Nigeria National League matches, having lost one and drawn one in the games played so far in the 2014/15 season.
And the former Akwa Starlets coach has backed his wards to set the ball rolling at the Ilaro Stadium.
“We are going to play for a win and not for a draw or to lose,” he said. “We can’t go all the way there for a draw, we must fight for a win. Victory is sure, it is non-negotiable”
Awakan is confident his charges will raise their game after they earned an impressive draw against Bendel Insurance in a match day two fixture in Benin City last weekend.
“We are looking to have a different result this time around and I don’t think we’ll have a repeat of what happened in the home loss to MFM.”
The match will get underway by 4pm Nigerian Time in Ilaro.
