Nwaneri and Butler-Oyedeji: Two Super Eagles-eligible attackers nominated for Arsenal GOTM

Arsenal attackers Ethan Nwaneri and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji have been shortlisted for the club’s Goal of the Month award for March 2025, following impressive strikes that underline their rising status at the North London club. 

Both players are eligible to represent Nigeria’s Super Eagles, making their recognition particularly noteworthy for Nigerian football supporters monitoring talents in the diaspora.

Nwaneri, 18, earned his nomination for a brilliant goal in Arsenal’s emphatic 7-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. 

The teenager received a pinpoint pass from Myles Lewis-Skelly before unleashing a powerful strike into the top corner, showcasing composure and technical excellence beyond his years. 

The goal was part of a dominant team performance and reinforced Nwaneri’s status as one of Arsenal’s most promising academy graduates.

Butler-Oyedeji was nominated for his second goal against Everton U21 in Premier League 2 action. 

The 22-year-old forward displayed great movement and calm finishing as he collected a through ball, beat a defender, and slotted past the goalkeeper.

Their inclusion on the shortlist reflects not only personal excellence but also the strength of Arsenal’s youth development program. 

Both players are viewed as future stars and have been tipped as potential additions to the Nigerian national team setup.
