Germany U20s Coach Hails Flying Eagles For Putting Up A Fight
Published: June 11, 2015
Germany Under 20 National Team coach, Frank Wormuth, has shared his thoughts and impressions on his country’s hard fought 1 - 0 win against Nigeria in the second round of the 2015 Fifa Under 20 World Cup.
The European champions will face another African side, Mali, in the quarter - finals on Sunday thanks to Levin Oztunali’s first half goal against the Flying Eagles.
“I like Nigeria and they are very good technically, which makes them extremely difficult to play against,” Frank Wormuth told reporters.
“We were able to keep the ball under pressure and that was our only chance to break through their defence.
“ In the end, I give congratulations to my team for finding the answer to the problems Nigeria posed us.”
Statistics have shown that the Nigeria Under 20s lost concentration in the first half during the tournament, with opponents scoring 75 percent of the goals they conceded before the intermission.
