Published: June 13, 2015
Assistant coach of Plateau United, Mansur Abdullahi is full of confidence as his wards face Kogi United in one the biggest fixtures of match-day 5 at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium on Saturday.
Plateau United are yet to amass an away point this season in the Nigeria National League, they have lost two away games, conceded five goals and scored two, but Coach Mansur is not moved with the statistics, he believes his side can cause a major upset when they face the Wada boys later today.
The former Bayelsa Queees and NIMC head coach, disclosed in a chat that despite all the challenges that they may face in the encounter with Kogi United, his wards major goal is to return to Jos with a valuable point.
He began, “Playing away from home is a difficult thing to do but then we have our way of getting the needed results.”
“Although we haven’t picked any point on the road this season, we nearly picked one against Kaduna United in week 3 but we lost the point few minutes to end the game. The game ended 3-2 with Kaduna United claiming the full points.
“This will be our third game on the road and Kogi United former goalkeeper Innocent Ndem will be in goal for us and you know what that means when a player is playing against his former team, apart from this the preparation towards this game has been a great one and the lads have vowed to play their heart out in this very encounter,” he confidently said.
Prior to this fixture, Kogi United have played two home games before, drew one and won the second, this will be their third home game this season and they will be hoping for the maximum points in front of their darling fans in Lokoja.
