Eseosa Aigbogun Snubbed As Switzerland Fail To Progress To Quarter - Final Of World Cup
Published: June 22, 2015Switzerland crashed out of the ongoing Women’s World Cup in the second round, losing narrowly 1 - 0 to hosts Canada at BC Place Stadium Vancouver on Monday morning.
FA Basel striker Eseosa Aigbogun surprisingly failed to come off the bench in what what would have been her fourth appearance at the World Cup.
The 22- year - old etched her name into Switzerland football folklore by becoming the first player to score for the national team in a World Cup game when she scored in the 45th minute against Ecuador on June 12.
Aigbogun racked up 156 minutes of playing time at the World Cup, starting the game with Ecuador while she was a substitute against France and Cameroon.
Josee Belanger netted the game winner for the Canadians seven minutes after the intermission.
Eniola Aluko’s England will take on Norway on Monday night. She is yet to open her account in Canada.
