Obafemi Martins Named To MLS Team Of The Week, In Contention For Goal Of The Week
Seattle Sounders attacker Obafemi Martins has been named to the Team of the Week for the latest round of matches in Major League Soccer.

The panelists took notice of the two goals he scored for Sounders on Sunday in his first game in the MLS since June, which assisted his club defeat Orlando City 4 - 0.

The editors of mlssoccer.com said about Martins : “ Didn’t miss a beat on his return from injury, netting two goals against a hapless Orlando defense and receiving a deserved standing ovation. ”

Chicago Fire striker Kennedy Igboananike was not recognized among the 11 most outstanding players last weekend but made the bench, despite scoring a brace and creating an assist in his team’s 3 - 3 draw with Philadelphia Union.

Martins has been nominated alongside Paulo Nagamura (Sporting Kansas City ), Nat Borchers (Portland Timbers), David Villa (New York City) and Pedro Morales (Vancouver Whitecaps) for the Goal of the Week.
