Junior Ajayi And Kingsley Sokari On Target As Dream Team Send Black Meteors Crashing
Published: September 09, 2015
Nigeria got their 2015 All-Africa Games campaign off to a winning start with a deserved victory over Ghana in Brazzaville.
Junior Ajayi opened the scoring with a rasping finish ten minutes out of intermission while Kingsley Sokari extended the advantage three minutes from time.
Defending champions Ghana played their part in an entertaining match but Nigeria, prompted by the superb Sokari, were more clinical throughout.
The Black Meteors looked very good in the first two minutes of the game with their Nigerian opponents showing little
Nigeria had the first attempt on goal on goal but Ricahrd Ofori made a smart save. Meteors Coach Malik Jabir showed his frustration with the way Nigeria dominated possession.
The Dream Team VI had a good strike but goalkeeper Richard Ofori was equal to the task in the 41st minute. First half of the keenly contested match ended 0-0 with more entertainment in the offing.
Nigeria continued to threaten like they did in the first half of the game and it was no surprise when Shooting Stars forward Ajayi put them in the lead five minutes into the second half.
Nigeria had another opportunity to make it two but Richard Ofori was alive to the situation. The Samson Siasia charges did all the damage as Ghana were unable to respond.
In the 70th minute, Dauda had an opportunity to bring his side back into the game but he was unable to take advantage.
Sokari then grabbed the second goal of the game with a sublime finish to kill off the Black Meteors of Ghana.
