Published: September 22, 2015
Godfrey Oboabona was delighted to score his first goal for Rizespor this season in their 5 - 1 thrashing of Antalyaspor and has characteristically praised God for making it possible.
It may be early days in the season but Rizespor have showed promise, with 4 points separating them from pacesetters Fenerbahce and Oboabona is hopeful his side can maintain their momentum.
“Thanks be to God Almighty for making it possible to score my first goal in the league, ” said Godfrey Oboabona to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We worked so hard and I believe we deserved the victory. By God’s grace we wish to keep this form going.”
The Nigeria international defender won the individual contest between him and Antalyaspor’s Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o, restricting the Super Lig leading marksman to only a first half assist.
'Samuel Eto’o is an amazing player and a great player,” the modest ex Sunshine Stars skipper added briefly.
In their next fixture in the Super Lig, Rizespor are guests to Kenneth Omeruo’s Kasimpasa, but first tackle Ankara Adliyespor in the Cup on Wednesday.
