Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has handed a late call - up to Celtic defender Efe Ambrose for the upcoming international friendlies against Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon in Belgium.

With the physical condition of Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo in doubt after sustaining a hamstring injury in Monday night’s fixture against Rizespor, the Nigeria manager has moved quickly to invite the former Kaduna United stopper.

The soon - to - be 27 - year - old Efe Ambrose has been in the international wilderness for close to a year, with his last appearance in a green - white - green jersey coming against South Africa in November 2014.

Since that appearance, the defensive all - rounder has not been called up by Daniel Amokachi, Stephen Keshi and was not considered when new manager Sunday Oliseh named his first  two rosters.

Across all competitions this season, Efe Ambrose has racked up 634 minutes of game time for The Bhoys.
