Published: October 04, 2015
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel will be one of the first foreign - based players called up for the friendlies against Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon to arrive in Belgium ahead of schedule.
The Nigeria Football Federation had instructed all the overseas based players to arrive in Belgium as from Monday, 5th October.
But Mikel left his home in London on Sunday afternoon at around 1400 hours to board a British Airways flight to Belgium.
As earlier reported, the Super Eagles star was eager to link up with the national team once again after close to a year in the international wilderness, hence his decision to report to camp early.
Having played his fifth game of the season against Porto in the Champions League, the defensive midfielder was left out of the Chelsea squad that fell 3 - 1 to Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
