Dominic Solanke, Sheyi Ojo And Josh Onomah Feature In England Win Vs Macedonia
Published: October 09, 2015Three Anglo - Nigerian players were in action on Thursday afternoon as England Under 19s began their European Under-19 Championship Qualifying round with a 2 - 0 win over Macedonia at FFM Training Centre, Skopje .
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Josh Onomah was named in the starting XI, while Chelsea loanee Dominic Solanke and Wolves winger Sheyi Ojo started from the bench.
Sheyi Ojo took to the pitch in the 71st minute, the same time Dominic Solanke was introduced by manager Aidy Boothroyd.
In the closing minutes and with England leading by a lone goal, Onomah, who played the full game, would have doubled the lead but missed his opportunity.
Adam Armstrong opened scoring for England in the 67th minute before Arsenal loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles sealed the win a goal in the fourth minute of injury time.
The England Under 19s will tackle Finland on Saturday before the big clash with Italy three days later.
