Sylvester Igboun Hoping To Join Obafemi Martins In FC Ebedei History Books By Scoring Against Cameroon
Published: October 11, 2015
FC Ufa star Sylvester Igboun has been previewing the upcoming friendly between the Super Eagles and Cameroon in Brussels on Sunday night.
Having lost 2 - 0 to Democratic Republic of Congo in their first exhibition match in Belgium, the Russian - based striker has declared that the Super Eagles have no choice but to win against one of their fierce rivals.
“The match against Cameroon means a lot, we want to win even though we know it is not going to be easy, ” Igboun told allnigeriasoccer.com on Sunday morning.
“We will fight to get the result after we have learnt our lesson from the game against DR Congo. We, all the players, are mentally ready and we are all fit for the game.”
The former FC Midtjylland man has fired blanks in his first three games for the Super Eagles but hopes to open his Nigeria account against the Les Lions Indomptables.
“Well I pray I score my first goal but the most important thing for me is a good performance and a good result, but of course I hope to score in today’s game, ” Igboun said.
The last FC Ebedei product to score for the national team was Obafemi Martins, who found the back of the net in the 19th minute in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar in September 2010.
