Golden Eaglets Coach Amuneke Systematically Selected World Cup Roster
Published: October 12, 2015
Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke has admitted that he had to make a tough call before announcing his 21 - player roster for the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup.
The former Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon winger has stressed that he was systematic before arriving at the squad list, adding that he was aware that some players that featured at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations would be disappointed that they were not considered for the tournament in Chile.
“Of course, we would have loved to see some of them (in Chile) particularly those that started the struggle with us and secured the ticket that qualified us for Niger; and some others who were with us in Niger but unfortunately, they are not here, ” said Emmanuel Amunke to thenff.com.
“The list has been long in coming from 60 to 40 to 35 to 25 and eventually we have only 21 going to the World Cup with us.
“Frankly, we have done a good job because we have been fair to everyone in the process but of course, we cannot please everybody. ”
