Published: October 14, 2015
Find out how Nigerian players got on for their respective clubs in Wednesday night’s UEFA Women’s Champions League games.
We begin at the Mini Estadi, where Bacelona hosted Biik Kazygurt. Super Falcons skipper Evelyn Nwabuoku and Charity Adule both started but got replaced in the 63rd and 53rd minutes respectively. The Spanish side won 4-0 and are through to the next round.
The news was better at the Behrn Arena (örebro). Nigeria internationals Ogonna Chukwudi and Sarah Michael both made the startling line - up for the Swedish side against PAOK and justified their inclusion by hitting target.
In the 5 - 0 rout of the Greek club, Sarah Michael opened the floodgates in the 10th minute before Ogonna Chukwudi netted her team’s fourth goal five minutes out of intermission.
Michael subbed out in the 79th minute, 19 minutes after her compatriot was replaced.
Chichi Igbo and Danish outfit Fortuna Hjørring are through to the last 16 on the heels of their 6 - 0 aggregate win over Minsk.
The Super Falcon started the game but was substituted seven minutes out of intermission. Minsk’s Nigerian trio Onome Ebi, Uchechi Sunday and Gift Otuwe lasted the distance but the last two got yellow - carded in the 90th minute.
Asisat Oshoala and Liverpool have ended their campaign in the Champions League after losing 1 - 0 at home to Brescia at Select Security Stadium.
In her first start for The Reds since the last three months, the current best player in Africa fired blanks despite playing the full game.
Newly signed PSG defender Ngozi Ebere is still waiting to make her competitive debut for the French powerhouse. Against Olimpia Universitatea, the former Rivers Angels star was an unused sub. PSG won 9 - 0 tonight.
At the Excelsior Stadium, Eniola Aluko played 75 minutes as Chelsea thrashed Glasgow City 3 - 0 to qualify for the next round.
