Etebo Stars As Dream Team Wins Africa U-23 Cup Of Nations
Published: December 12, 2015Nigeria have been crowned winners of the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations courtesy of a 2-1 victory over their Algerian counterparts at the Leopold Senghor Stadium on Saturday night.
A brace from Oghenekaro Etebo ensured that the Warri Wolves striker finished the tournament as the top scorer with five goals.
Nigeria drew the first blood through Etebo in the 14th minute from the penalty spot.
Algeria were back on level terms as Segun Oduduwa diverted the ball to his own net on the half-hour mark.
Etebo restored his team’s lead some minutes to the end of the first half from a solo effort.
The second half produced some electrifying moments but neither side scored as Nigeria won the tournament for the first time in its history.
