Azubuike Okechukwu Named Africa U-23 Cup of Nations MVP
Published: December 14, 2015Yeni Malatyaspor midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu has been named the Most Valuable Player of the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations by CAF Technical Study Group.
The 18 - year - old shone like a million stars in Senegal and was particularly impressive in the showpiece game against Algeria.
The top scorer of the tournament was already known before now after Warri Wolves midfielder Etebo Oghenekaro scored his fourth and fifth goals in the final against the North Africans.
The best goalkeeper accolade went to Algeria shot - stopper Abdelkadir Salhi, while the fair play award was handed to South Africa.
During the competition, 36 goals were scored, with champions Nigeria accounting for nine of those strikes.
