Omar Sowunmi: CB who wants to play for Nigeria joins Leeds, Blackburn stars in EFL Easter XI

Football statistics website Whoscored has unveiled its best rated EFL XI from the Easter Weekend of those to have featured in both matches, with Bromely central defender Omar Sowunmi making the cut.

Born to a British mother and Nigerian father, Sowunmi is willing to play for the Super Eagles if handed a call-up by the Nigeria Football Federation.

Nine different clubs have contributed players to the Best XI, namely Bromley, Charlton, MK Dons, Doncaster Rovers, Leyton Orient, Blackburn Rovers, Harrogate, Plymouth and Leeds United.

Sondre Tronstad is Blackburn's representative, while Joel Piroe, who netted four goals in Leeds United's 6-0 rout of Stoke City, is among the three players named in attack.

Omar Sowunmi posted an impressive 8.18 WhoScored.com rating, helping Bromley to clean sheets against Morecambe and Swindon while contributing 18 aerial duels won, 32 clearances, and nine combined tackles and interceptions.

Completing the EFL XI are Grant Smith (Bromley),  Lloyd Jones (Charlton), Jack Sanders (MK Dons),  Luke Molyneux (Doncaster),  Jamie Donley (Leyton Orient), Ellis Taylor (Harrogate), Josh March (Harrogate) and Mustapha Bundu (Plymouth). 

A goalscoring defender, Sowunmi has appeared in thirty-two league matches this season and has four goals to his name. 

A product of the Ipswich Town academy, he counts Braintree Town,  Lowestoft Town, Yeovil Town, Colchester United and Sutton United as his previous clubs.
