Published: December 19, 2015As the 6th Nigerian Private University Games Association (NPUGA), hosted by Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti, (ABUAD) ended over the weekend Lead City University Ibadan emerged champion in Football event.
The Ibadan based private institution; Lead City defeated the football team of Alikmah University in the final game, after beating them by 4 goals to 2 to claim the most prestigious and all important medals of the schools tourney.
Meanwhile, Alikmah University has been handed a two-year ban by the main organizing committee of NPUGA after the Ilorin based institution walked out of pitch in protest to a fourth goal scored against them by LCU in the final match played and watched by top dignitaries that witnessed the closing ceremony.
The Director of Sports of the Lead City University, Lade Aloba said her contingent faced lots of hard times from the NPUGA officials which grossly affected their moral but still thank God picking the vital gold medals.
She, however, advised NPUGA executives to be more transparent with every participating school so that they don’t hamper the spirit and objectives of the game.
She also attributed the good outing of Lead City University to the good gestures of the school’s management towards sports men and women that aspire for tertiary education.
“Our management used to encourage any sports men and woman that aspire to acquire tertiary education with scholarship and that has greatly helped sports at LCU.
