Idah LGA Emerge Winners Of FOSLA U13 Tournament
Published: January 03, 2016Idah Local Goverment Area at the weekend emerged winners of the Kogi State version of 2015 FOSLA Football Tournament.
The tournament which is sponsored by the former President of the Nigeria Football Federation Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi for the nine Local Government Areas in Kogi East Senatorial District of the State was played at the Qua Iboe Primary School Idah, Kogi State on the New Year day.
The enterprising Idah LGA U-13 boys scored one goal in each of the half to emerge victorious over Omala LGA.
Philip Gambo scored the curtain raiser in the 30th minute of the game, while Bigman Amana took the game beyond the Omala boys who had better ball possession in the later part of the match.
Speaking immediately after the match, the sponsor of the annual football tournament and the Proprietor of FOSLA Academy, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi promised that the FOSLA competition in both Kogi and FCT has come to stay.
He said that the 23 selected players from the tournament would join those that would be selected from the FCT version of the tournament later in the year to compete for the 10 available academic scholarship slots in FOSLA Academy located in Karshi, Abuja.
He advised the selected players to ensure that they prepare adequately to compete with others in the Academy’s common entrance examination, and the next stage of the competition.
Lulu said that for any player to be admitted into the Academy, he must show willingness to combine his academics effectively with his football career.
He advised the government at all levels to further assist the talents that are lying wasted at the local areas to further their education, while combining it with their football career.
The Omachi Atah of Igaland further revealed that the unique thing about the current edition of the tournament is that girls were also selected to be part of the scholarship programme.
