Osmanlispor Young Star Umar Aminu Calls Mom & Dad To Celebrate Super Eagles Invitation
Published: March 03, 2016
Osmanlıspor frontman Umar Aminu has admitted that he was pleasantly surprised after learning of his invitation to the Super Eagles for their African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.
Aminu has caps for the Flying Eagles and Dream Team and would have been heading to Brazil with the U23 squad for a friendly game with the South Americans later this month but will now have to change his travel plans.
It is thought that the 20-year-old has been rewarded by coach Samson Siasia for putting country before club, having represented the Nigeria U23s at the All Africa Games in September despite the competition falling outside the Fifa window for international games.
“Honestly, I didn’t know I would be called but again I will like to think my performance in my club gave me the call up,” said Umar Aminu to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Immediately I saw the news and I heard it also from other people, I praised my God and called my parents.”
When asked to predict the outcome of the crackers against Egypt, he replied : “I do not predict games. Ninety minutes will tell which of the teams will win.”
Of the last 16 games contested by Osmanlıspor in the Super Lig, Aminu has suited up in 15 and only missed the tie against Sivasspor due to accumulated bookings.
