Real Salt Lake Newbie Sunday Stephen Pleased To Score First Goal In Nearly Four Years
Published: March 13, 2016Sunday Stephen was delighted to get off the mark for Real Salt Lake in their 2-1 win against Seattle Sounders at the Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday.
The central midfielder last scored in a competitive fixture during the 2012-13 season, precisely September 23rd,2012, when he hit target in the 50th minute as Numancia beat Real Murcia 1-0.
Stephen scored his first goal in Real Salt Lake’s colours in the 42nd minute, heading past goalkeeper Miller off a corner kick.
“I’m very fortunate and very happy to score the first goal at home. I’m also happy for the team,”Sunday Stephen told Real Salt Lake’s official webpage.
“Coming to draw in the first game of the league against Orlando… I think we had a lot to learn from this game to play this team Seattle.
“I’m very glad, I’m very happy you know. Precisely for the team and for my family.”
Sunday Stephen and his teammates return to action at away next Sunday against Fanendo Adi’s Portland Timbers.
