Fanendo Adi Rues Loss To San Jose Earthquakes
Published: March 14, 2016
Fanendo Adi has rued Portland Timbers’s 2-1 loss to San Jose Earthquakes in the second round of matches in Major League Soccer on Sunday and has suggested that the team failed to convert their chances.
The Oregon-based outfit fell 2-0 behind inside the opening first forty-five minutes before Jack McInerney pulled a goal back in the 88th minute.
“We created a lot of chances. If we finished our chances we would have come out victorious. We have to go back and work on our finishing and putting ourselves in the right position,” said Adi to his club’s official webpage.
Portland Timbers were without skipper Liam Ridgewell for the contest at Avaya Stadium and the defender could spend a minimum of one month on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury he picked up at training on Friday.
“All the guys were ready, even the guys on the bench. It’s sad that we’ll miss him for some time now, but it’s football. It’s a game and things happen,” added the Super Eagles invitee.
Fanendo Adi will be in action next weekend against Sunday Stephen’s Real Salt Lake before heading to Nigeria to join the Super Eagles training camp ahead of the AFCON qualifiers with Egypt.
