Ghana 2016 Keta Cup : Gov Bello backs Kogi Beach Soccer To Do Nigeria Proud
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has urged the state’s beach soccer team to do Nigeria proud at the Ghana 2016 Keta Beach Soccer Cup slated to kick off on Saturday, March 26.

In a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Kingsley Fanwo, the governor pledged adequate support to the team stressing that the tournament will be used to kick-start an era of sporting glory in the state.

Governor Bello urged the entire people of the state to throw their weight behind the team to conquer Africa.

He said the state will promote sports as a means of empowerment, recreation and national pride.

Earlier on Thursday, the team defeated Badagry beach boys 19-9 in a friendly game as they continued their preparations.

Meanwhile, Adamu Audu, head coach of the team has announced his squad of 15 players for four-day international beach soccer tournament event that features six top African club sides.

Tale Victor, the Supersand Eagles captain tops the list with brother Godwin Tale who was Kano Pillars goalkeeper at last year’s Copa Lagos.

They were on Wednesday drawn against Havedzi Warriors, Teshie United in Group A of the preliminary round of the competition.

The Nigeria representatives face Havedzi in their first game of the competition on March 25 at the Aboringines Beach Resort in Keta, Ghana.

The team are expected to depart their training base in Badagry, Lagos for Ghana on Friday morning.
