Nigeria Reps Confluence Finish Second In 2016 Keta Beach Soccer Cup In Ghana
Nigeria’s representatives, Confluence Beach Soccer Club of Kogi emerged the first runners up in 2016 Keta Beach Soccer Cup played at the Aborigines Beach Resort pitch in Ghana.

The two-day event featured Nigeria’s Kogi Confluence, Togo’s Team Brick, Keta sides Sunset Sports and Havedzi Mighty Warriors, former champions Owibeseb and Teshie United.

Despite an impressive show from the preliminary phase, the Nigerians bowed to Ghana’s Havedzi Warriors 20 in the final of the six team beach soccer event on Sunday.

A brace from Dekpey Eugene was all the hosts needed to stop coach Adamu Audu’s men from clinching the coveted trophy which had Nigeria’s side Owibeseb claiming the first edition last year.

At the grand finale, fans were treated to performances by a traditional band and live DJ throughout the event aside some traditional sports events to relive the celebration of Easter in Keta.

The Keta Cup, Ghana’s first international beach soccer tournament, concluded successfully on Easter Sunday is organised by Ghana Beach Soccer Association with support from the UK’s Sandlanders Football.
