Zambian Referee Explains He Did Not Stop His Friend Salah From Scoring In Stoppage Time
Zambian referee, Jan Sikazwe, has cleared the air on why he ended the game between Nigeria and Egypt in Kaduna the moment Mohamed Salah had an opportunity to score the match-winner.

Though the decision by Sikazwe angered the Egyptian supporters, he has explained that he was enforcing the laws of the game, adding that he had no intention of stopping his friend Salah from scoring.

“I understand that the Egyptians are very angry because of my decision to end the game, ”said Sikazwe to filgoal.com.

“I want people to understand that I was just obeying the law, I looked at my watch when Salah received the ball and stoppage time was already over.

“I confirm that I did not mean to prevent Salah from scoring, was due to the end of time.

“I have friends in the team, such as the Egyptian player with the jersey number 6 and Mohamed Salah.

The Super Eagles will square off against the Pharaohs in a must-win game on Tuesday night in Alexandria, with a minimum of 30,000 Egyptian fans expected at the stadium.
