Tomori Set To Follow In The Footsteps Of Barcelona Defender Ekpolo,Chelsea Duo Solanke &Aina
Published: April 16, 2016
Canada U20 international Fikayo Tomori was pleased that Chelsea secured a spot in the final of the UEFA Youth League after seeing off Anderlecht in Friday’s semifinal.
The central defender was an unused substitute in April 2015 when The Blues narrowly beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 to lift the trophy for the first time in their history, but would be hoping to make the starting XI against PSG in the showpiece game this coming Monday.
Everything is pointing to the fact that Tomori will feature against the Parisians, having gone the distance in the three matches contested by Chelsea in the knockout rounds of the UEFA Youth League this season.
“Into the UEFA Youth League final again! Beat Anderlecht 3-0ðð¾. PSG or Real Madrid in the finalðâ½ï¸. #cfc,”Tomori said on Friday.
Nigeria U23 international Godswill Ekpolo won the UEFA Youth League with Barcelona in 2014, and lasted the distance in their 3-0 win over Benfica in the final.
The following year, Dominic Solanke and Ola Aina were named in the starting XI in Chelsea’s victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.
