Catch up on the performances of players of Nigerian descent in the European Leagues on Friday.

Nigeria U23s hopeful Viv Solomon-Otabor played the last four minutes of Birmingham City’s 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough at St. Andrews Stadium in the Championship.

Two second half goals from Kingsley Onuegbu (47th minute) and Victor Obinna (58th minute) earned MSV Duisburg a 2-1 win over Kevin Akpoguma’s Fortuna Duesseldorf in the German 2 Bundesliga.

In the last ten minutes, Onuegbu was replaced while Obinna joined him on the bench six minutes later. Germany youth-teamer Akpoguma was yellow-carded in the 89th minute and played the full game. Teammate Emmanuel Iyoha came on in the 60th minute.

Despite lasting the distance, Taiwo Awoniyi fired blanks as FSV Frankfurt were humiliated 4-1 by Kaiserslautern in front of their fans.

Austria international Rubin Okotie entered the fray in the 68th minute as 1860 Munich won 2-0 on the road against St Pauli.

Eke Uzoma was benched for the entirety of Chemnitzer FC’s 3-0 win at Fortuna Koeln in the 3rd Liga.

In Belgium, Super Eagles striker Joseph Akpala started and played for 90 minutes in Oostende’s hard fought 2-1 win at Zulte-Waregem. Nigeria U23 international Saviour Godwin was not involved for Oostende.

Over to Finland, HJK have lost top spot in the Veikkausliiga after losing 1-0 to PS Kemi.

Taye Taiwo made his sixth straight start for the capital team, Nnamdi Oduamadi was introduced immediately after the intermission, while Vincent Onovo wa not selected in the 18-man squad.

Godfrey Oboabona, whose name has not been included in the latest Nigeria squad, went the full 90 minutes as Rizespor defeated Mersin 2-0.

Finally, in Russia, Fegor Ogude, Brian Idowu and Bright Dike all started Amkar Perm’s goalless draw with Dinamo Moscow.

Dike subbed out in the 59th minute while ex-Norway youth international Chuma Anene joined the fray in the 86th minute. Ogude was cautioned in the 79th minute.
