Super Eagles Striker Aaron Samuel To Undergo Scan After Picking Up Knee Injury In Russian Cup Final
Published: May 02, 2016CSKA Moscow striker Aaron Samuel is doubtful for his team’s Russian Premier League clash against Terek Grozny this coming Saturday after picking up a knee injury in the 4-1 loss to Zenit St. Petersburg in the Cup final on Monday.
The Nigeria international had equalized for the Muscovites in the 36th minute but had to be replaced three minutes later after he landed awkwardly.
“Tomorrow I will do a scan. I was injured around the 39th minute, I injured my knee after I landed awkwardly,”Aaron Samuel told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“The CSKA Moscow doctor has said that I will have to do a scan to know how long I will be out of action. I can’t walk now.”
CSKA Moscow conceded three goals in the second half and Samuel has revealed that the dismissal of Vasili Berezutski in the 63rd minute contributed to their loss.
“The game was good in the first half, we were doing well until Zenit scored from a penalty. We mounted pressure, then the equalizer came from me.
“We lost focus in the second half and got a red card, that is why we lost, ” Samuel added.
CSKA Moscow have won the Russian Cup 12 times since the formation of the club, with their last triumph coming in 2013.
