Austria Euro 2016 Hopeful Karim Onisiwo Closes Scoring In Mainz Win
Published: May 08, 2016
Karim Onisiwo scored his first goal in the German Bundesliga in Mainz’s 3-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on Saturday afternoon.
In his eighth appearance of the season, the Vienna-born striker hit target in the 77th minute after he was teed up by Jhon Cordoba to bring the scoreline to 3-1.
The 24-year-old played for Austria at U21 level prior to making his debut for the senior team in an international friendly against Switzerland last November but was left out of the squad for games against Albania and Turkey two months ago.
Meanwhile, in the English League Two, Jabo Ibehre tallied his fourteenth and fifteenth goals of the season as Carlisle United hammered Notts County 5-0 at the Meadow Lane Stadium on Saturday.
The experienced frontman had not scored in the division since February 2016 before he netted a brace against the Magpies.
