Odion Ighalo Ignored As Watford Announce End of Season Awards Winners
Published: May 19, 2016Odion Ighalo finished in third place in Watford’s Goal of the Season Award at a ceremony held at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old’s goal against Everton at Goodison Park which he netted nine minutes after his introduction was behind Adlene Guedioura’s strike against Arsenal in the FA Cup and Almen Abdi’s effort versus Stoke City in the voting.
Ighalo’s goals against Newcastle United (second goal, away), West Ham (second goal, home), Norwich City (home) and Liverpool (second goal, home) had been nominated for the award as well.
The Super Eagles striker also missed out on the Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and Individual Player of the Season awards, and was unable to make the top three positions for the first two awards.
He was in Dubai this week to cool off before he links up with the Nigeria squad for the international friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg this month.
