Published: May 21, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Birmingham City winger Viv
Solomon-Otabor has officially been called up to the Nigeria U23s squad ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games.
The 20-year-old has been rewarded with an invitation by manager Samson Siasia on the back of his form for the Blues over the course of last season.
Indeed, it was a breakthrough season for the London-born Solomon-Otabor, culminating in him winning Birmingham City’s Young Player of the Season at the end of season awards.
Subject to the approval of the leadership of the St. Andrews Stadium outfit, he will hop on a plane bound for Abuja in the coming days to begin training with Nigeria’s Olympic Team.
Viv Solomon-Otabor was one of the foreign-based professionals considered to wear the colours of the national team at the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, but his club did not release him for the tournament which fell outside Fifa’s calendar for international matches.
The Crystal Palace product appeared 22 times in the Championship in the 2015-2016 campaign.
