Two Players Of Nigerian Descent Chelsea Starlet Tomori, Charlton Striker Lookman Make England Bow
Four players of Nigerian descent were named in the starting line-up in England U19s 2-0 loss to Mexico in an international friendly at the Centro de Alti Rendimiento on Saturday.

Defender Fikayo Tomori (Chelsea) and Ademola Lookman (Charlton Athletic) were handed their debuts by manager Aidy Boothroyd, while Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo and Chelsea’s Ojo started the game as well.

Though the Young Lions suffered a loss against Mexico, there was a reason to be cheerful as Tomori was impressive in his first game for England after switching allegiance from Canada.

The North Americans went in front in the 60th minute before their lead was doubled ten minutes from time.

Ojo and Solanke subbed out at the end of the first half, Lookman joined the duo on the bench half an hour later while Chelsea’s Young Player of the Year Tomori went the distance.

A fifth player with Nigerian roots, Josh Onomah (Tottenham Hotspur), was an unused substitute but could get game time on Monday against today’s opponents.
